J&M Studded Windshield Bag

Manufacture: J&M Electronics
Model No: JM-HDCH-90
Price: $99.00
URL: Web Site
Submitted By: Gary Mace

Description:   3 Pocket leather studded pouch. Designed for the Harley Ultra, but fits very well on the RSV.

Note of Warning: Several members have reported buying other similar looking windshield bags that cost less than this one does. Many have found however that due to them not having as sturdy of a backing or the bags being somewhat flimsy or the backing 'tail' not being long enough, that these lower costs windshield bags did not work very well at all. If the length of the backing tail is not long enough, the bags get scrutched up against the dash, or hang over the dash covering the speedometer.

See the J&M photo below to see what I mean by the tail. If you decide to get a cheaper model, be sure that the tail is long enough to reach the RSV's dash/windshield juncture.

An Alternative To The J&M Model

JC Whitney offers a Hopnel windshield-mounted 3-pocket storage panel ($59.98, SKU# ZX013034N) that is listed for use with 1996-2000 Honda GL1500 Valkyries.

Has anyone mounted one of these on a 2nd Gen RSV?

I used the HOPNEL #HD90-103BK  intended for the '96 and newer FLHT line of Harley dressers. Rather than attempting to wedge it in between the RSV dash and windshield, I trimmed off the bottom of the mounting flap, took some measurements and mounted it directly to the windshield. I drilled 3 small pilot holes at first and then finished them off with slightly larger holes to accommodate applicable nuts and bolts. On the outside of the windshield, I used some chrome snap caps. It is not in my line of sight at all.  Abbotsfordken
