Venturer #1374, was not just a number, but John Legare was a dear
friend. He passed away at the Concord Hospice House in Concord N.H.
August 10, 2006. He had just turned 61. John had been battling cancer
and it moved rapidly in recent days and finally took his life. So how
valuable are friends? I would say more than silver or gold. His long
time friend for 45 years and riding partner for the last 25, Dave
Budrewicz (Daveb), made Johns’s days of battling his illness bearable.
Dave, made it a regular part of his life, to visit John during his
illness. That is what we do for people we love. I did not know John and
I do not know Daveb, but I know what they shared and how blessed John
must have been to have such a dear friend. I doubt that Dave, will look
in his rear view mirror of his bike and not be looking for John. They
road together many-many miles up and down the East Coast. Dave, our hearts and prayers go out to you and to John’s daughter who was with him at the time of his passing. Our prayers go out to all who knew and loved him. May John rest in peace. May we all learn to love as deeply. Psalm 34:18 tells us that “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and he saves those whose spirits have been crushed”. I pray that God comes to you, remains close to you, and that he will meet all the needs that such a void can be. I the quiet lonliness, may your rejoice for the blessing of having John in your life, as a part of that life. Death may sever the presence, but it can never remove the spirit of your friendship. |
