In Memoriam
Jon Lee Boyington
Venturer #787
This is the story, of a short time ago,
About brothers-on-wheels, and the love that they know.
They had a friend, in the Great White North
Who needed some help, so they ventured forth.
Maniac was his name, and his health was not good,
But his friends joined together, all in brotherhood.
Pyro had an idea, and it wasn't a whim,
Being the hacker that he is, it seemed natural to him.
"Maniac needs a sidecar", He said to his spouse,
"Something to help Da Boss, get him out of the house."
So he rallied and tallied, and cajoled each member,
Until they said "Yes! Yes! We'll all help our brother!"
The request went out, and the search began,
To find Maniac a hack, so he could ride again.
Soon one was found, and secured in a flick,
The only thing left, was get it to Maine quick.
So Pyro issued the call, "Gather 'round, one and all!"
'We need some strong men, to get this rig to Maniac's Den!"
Up stepped PABob, who had found the contraption,
As did Patrllr and his son, ready for action.
They took it to New York, for inspection and review,
But more folks were needed, to carry it anew.
BobE said "Let's do it!", To his friend called Pyro,
"Let's make it an all-nighter, my good ole friend, Joe!"
The plans came together, it all fit so true,
So BobE went to New Hampshire, aboard Rushin' Blue.
He fought the raindrops, and battled traffic aplenty,
And got to Nashua, but Pyro's house was empty.
He waited and waited, until he could hear,
Pyro come around the corner, his little car in high gear.
After the grand reunion, they settled down for the night,
After checking, of course, the VentureNet site.
The morning found STPolish, parked out in the street,
The hack in the back, this phase was complete.
But the plans went astray, as they always may,
So BobE and ST, continued on the way.
They went barely a mile, and promptly got lost,
It wasn't their fault, and the map was almost tossed.
BobE and ST, those two men on a mission,
Laughed all the way, but never lost their vision.
Back on the track, they rode into Maine,
Where they encountered toll booths, really a pain!
ST said, "Don't worry, I'll cover the tolls"
BobE sat back, confident of their goals.
When they approached the first one, ST almost forgot,
This wasn't EasyPass, and they made a hard stop.
As BobE peeled his face, off the large windshield,
He groaned "I better wear my seatbelt, or else I'll get killed!"
ST paid the toll, while he choked down his mirth,
Then roared out of the booth, planting BobE in his berth.
BobE and ST, those two men on a mission,
Laughed all the way, but never lost their vision.
As they rolled down the road, and talked about their lives,
It became apparent, Maine was playing with their eyes.
One exit was one-fifty, the next thirty-three,
Then they noticed the signs, said "Formerly".
But a good chuckle arose, when it was seen,
That Exit Thirteen, was "Formerly Exit Thirteen"!
When the Exit Formerly Known As Fifty-Five, did finally appear,
We barrelled off the highway, still in high gear.
ST tried to repeat, that same braking feat,
But BobE was ready, and kept himself steady.
BobE and ST, those two men on a mission,
Laughed all the way, but never lost their vision.
After meeting Chief Lee, and cruising through Lincoln,
They arrived at the log cabin, their final destination.
Ashley escorted them in, on her four-wheel ATV,
And Da Boss opened the door, looking as good as can be.
Maniac was all smiles, as they walked into the room,
Even though times were tough, there was no gloom.
The three men celebrated, their long-awaited reunion,
Then they all sat down, and enjoyed their communion.
Soon it was time to reveal, why they had traveled so far,
And our Maniac was shown, his new sidecar.
The smile was broad, and Da Boss glowed,
Chief Lee, ST, and BobE, all just grinned with glee.
Later as they headed, on down the road,
These two men reflected, on how life unfolds.
Life is not fair, and often quite cruel,
The games that it plays, don't go by the rules.
But one thing is for sure, as anyone can see,
Maniac's loved by his friends, brothers, and family.
Unfortunately for us, we never got to see,
Maniac take that ride, in those wheels of three.
For soon after this, a most epic delivery,
Maniac went to the Lord, and did so peacefully.
We all miss you, our brother Venturer,
But your spirit lives on, with us forever.
