In Memoriam

Roland Reiss
Venturer (Germany)

I am writing this as an introduction to my very dear and close friend, Roland Reiss. I think all of the members of this club should know who has left us.

Roland lived in Mannheim Germany, south of Frankfurt, he was a strong Manager for State Employees and represented the Union for the workers (this may not be exactly correct but it is close). He was well respected by the Union membership. He didn't love his job, but he did it to the best of his ability.

In the mid 90's his wife became very ill, she was unable to take care of herself for many years. Roland took care of her every day, and worked as well, but she eventually died. They had a boy and a girl. Ruth, Roland’s second wife was previously married and her husband passed away of an illness as well, she had 2 children.

Roland loved motorcycles and ended up buying a 1999 Yamaha RSV and diverted his attention to riding. In a few years time he was on the internet and started a conversation with Ruth. They became friends and started to see each other. Ruth was introduced to Moto touring, and loved it. That’s all that it took, they became best friends, got married in 2003 (I was there), inherited a big dog named Gerry, and they all never, ever left each others side!!!!

Gerry died 5 weeks before Roland passed away. He knew what was happening and couldn't stay to see Roland leave this world...so he left on his own.

Ruth and Roland were made for each other. Ruth is a very strong women, she took care of Roland everyday, she cleaned him, talked to him, loved him, never was away from him. Roland was a very lucky man. I am a very lucky guy to have met Roland & Ruth.....my life is so much better for knowing Roland.

I will miss him so very much.....My friend Roland Reiss........I miss your companionship, I miss your friendship.....I just wanted you all to know my friend....we will see you again Roland....take care, and good by for now.
