Windshield Replacement |

Windshield ReplacementAfter 13 years of abuse the windshield on my 85 royale finally was polished and buffed to death. available from yamaha was the stock winshield, another unit slightly taller and a huge oversize windshield. folks-dont waste your money on the oversize windshield. this unit is thin, much thinner than stock and of very poor quality optically. i was surprised to get this piece of garbage from yamaha. being so thin it really vibrated bad. on the positive side it created a quiet cockpit environment but as stated before it was very sad optically. i sent this back---reinstalled the old unit and went on the hunt. i found a viable replacement unit in the jcwhitney catalog. this replacement unit from whitney turned out to be manufactured by slipstreamer. the price from whitney was 74.98 and shipping. this winshield turned out to be just slightly shorter than stock. in order to quieten things up a bit, i added the stealth edging from saeng/ta. the whole deal cost about 130 dollars and i have a pretty quiet cockpit now. the stealth edging is great at interstate speed and seems to make the new windshield act like it has about a 3inch extension all around...... paul marsh
