Improving Brake Pad & Feel |

Brake Pad & FeelI always buy my brake pads at the local Yamaha dealer. He stocks various aftermarket brake pads. For your 1984, though, the biggest improvement in brake "feel" would be to remove the antidive mechanism from the front right. (at the same time that you replace the pads). I did this on my 1984 the same year that I upgraded that brake line to braided stainless, and was astonished at the improvement in brake control that the removal of this antidive mechanism provided. (you will have to bleed the brakes if you do this). Back in 1984, Yamaha produced very excellent brand name pads, although they did not last very many miles. Most recently I find that the EBC Kevlar give the best feel. ...Scott MacMartin
