Reserve ValveThe reserve valve is located on the right side of the bike just aft of the drivers footpeg. You CANNOT safely activate it while driving. The early model XVZ's 83-84 had a fuel on-off valve. 85 to 93 had a reserve valve. why the change???? Your guess is as good as mine. Like I said earlier, many owners just leave their valves set on Res full time, myself included. If you ever run out of gas you will know why. These puppies are a bastard to start when dry.............Dave LeontyHow Much Gas Left?If you run your bike on reserve, as I do, and the red light comes on, divide your trip meter reading by 4. That's the distance you have left to go before you run out of gas....Wayne Orpe
