Installing a Rivco Centerstand

The Rivco centerstand ships with pretty easy to follow instructions. I will not repeat those but instead show a few pictures that may help understand them. If you get a stand with no instructions, they can be found online here:

First, bolt the centerstand to the bike as instructed. When finished this step, you should have something that looks like this. If you have previously jacked the bike up on the the metal piece with the two smaller holes, getting everything to line up could requirea little patience and maybe a hammer. Mine lined up perfectly:

Next, install the stop bumper as instructed. It should look like this. Adjust to be sure the stand doesnot hit your exhaust.:

You will next need to relocate the emissions valve so that the right leg of the centerstand does not hit it. This was a bit confusing because I think the Rivco instructions have an oversight on them. The picture they reference is supposed to show the bracket after it has been flipped. Instead, they show a picture of the before, or stock position. Here is what the valve and bracket should look like AFTER you change the bracket as instructed:

That is about it. This centerstand does lift my wheel about 1" off the ground making it easier to check tire pressures and clean the wheel. Getting the bike on the stand is not difficult, but takes the right technique. Follow the Rivco instructions and you should find it goes onto the stand quite easily. Remember, the key is using your weight on the centerstand pedal, not trying to lift the bike.
