Re-Installing Drive Shaft
Taken from forum discussions.

I'm trying to put the drive shaft back on the bike and I'm having a hard time getting it to seat itself. I think it is seated and then when I try and spin the gears I'm getting some noise. So I don't know if I missed the swivel joint completely or if the end of the drive shaft is just not alligned right.

Please help.

Thanks,
Paul

There is an access plug and that's how I do it. On top of swingarm near the u joint is a plug that is removable. It is pretty close to the same color as the swingarm. I get my fingertip in the hole and hold the u joint and then slide in the driveshaft. Sometimes I get right away and others it likes to fight me.

Behmer and all,

That access plug works pretty good. Funny thing when I had the swingarm off and was inspecting I first noticed the plug while I was looking inside and thought that is funny and didn't really give it a second thought.

It took me a few tries but I was able to put my finger in and hold up the joint and get the drive shft back in.

It is also very helpful to make certain the shaft is in correctly. If you think you have the shaft in you can feel with your finger that it is in correctly and also you can spin the gears from the rear hub to turn the shaft and feel the swivel joint moving.

It was helpful for me to also use a jack to hold up the final gear assembly.

I would think if someone was creative enough they could make some kind of tool to stick in the plug hole to hold up the end of the swivel joint?

Thanks for everyones help.
Paul
