Replacing OEM Tail Light Bulb With a Halogen 1157Original Contribution by ButchJust a note for those of you considering making the back end of your new Venture a little brighter for visibility. Dennis Kirk makes an 1157 halogen replacement bulb for the tailight. The part number is 22150. Phone number is 800-328-9280. I installed mine tonight and its abouttwice as bright as the OEM bulb. The concerns I have is whether it is too hot for the cavity, but I guess time will tell on that issue. I had previously installed lights that converted the tailights into running lights but after several comments from other riders, decided to convert to something different. Comments I received included: "Looks like you're putting the brakes on all the time", and "Its hard to know whether your turning in the daylight because you're amber turning lights are red". Maybe other riders have had different reactions but these were ones I received. The $9.00 option has been an inexpensive way to be noticed from the backend without the wattage draw (The OEM bulb is way to dim IMHO)The typical conversion for turning signal lights into running lights is 35Watts for both sides. (On the new Venture you may find this to be too much draw for the stator). You can analyse this for yourself.
Replacing OEM Passing Lights With Halogen H-7616 For brighter more effective passing lights, many members are using a sealed halogen bulb. At 37.5 watts, it is not enough additional current to cause concern, yet provides noticably brighter lighting. The photo to the left shows one H7616 bulb compared to the stock bulb. Replacing OEM Headlight with Sylvania SilverStar #9003 For brighter headlights, many Venturers have opted for the SilverStar halogen #9003ST or #H4 ST replacement bulb.
