Facts & Opinion on Resistor Plugs |
Author: Daveb Views: 6985 Votes: 2 |
A while ago, the topic of resistor plugs was brought up and questions arose to their purpose and why you would or would not use them in our machines. Anyways, I can't seem to keep myself out of trouble. In the last couple of weeks I have gotten heavily involved with COP [coil on plug] ignition systems used on the newer cars and trucks. More specifically, Ford.
Gonna bring this one back. Yamaha has a tech bulletin (#M2002-018) from a few years ago dealing with this issue. They recommend using whatever is specified for the bike to reduce any "EMI" interference. They say excess "EMI" can damage sensitive electronic equipment such as CDI or TCI units. They also say it can lead to a misfire condition. Just thought some of you may be interested.
