Wire Sizing ChartWhen wiring your bike with additional lights or other electrical load, it is important to use the proper size wire. Too thin a wire will cause a loss of voltage at the termination end since the resistance of the wire is too high. It is also a fire hazard due to overheating or improper fusing. Always use wire properly suited to the application. The wire sizing guide below shows the length of wire (feet) that will cause a 5% voltage drop at a given current. The relationships are linear. That means if you want to limit the voltage drop by some other amount, say 2%, then divide the length by 2.5.
